Hi, I’m Abigail
I’m a Senior Copywriter at ATRACTE, a local business directory dedicated to spotlighting the incredible small and mid-sized businesses that make Austin thrive.
How I Got Here
I’ve spent the past 14 years working in content strategy, brand storytelling, and local SEO. I started out at a boutique digital marketing agency, where I learned how to blend persuasive writing with measurable results. Over time, I realized I was especially drawn to local businesses — the family-owned cafés, neighborhood boutiques, and service providers that give a city its personality.
Six years ago, I joined ATRACTE, and I’ve been leading the content team ever since.
What I Actually Do
A lot of people think directory listings are just basic blurbs. I disagree.
My job is to turn simple business information into compelling micro-stories. I:
- Write and refine business descriptions that balance SEO with authenticity
- Create neighborhood guides and “best of” features
- Help business owners clarify their brand voice
- Edit and optimize user-submitted listings
- Collaborate with sales and design to ensure messaging actually converts
At the end of the day, I believe good copy isn’t just decorative — it drives discovery, builds trust, and supports real growth.
How I Work
I’m collaborative by nature, but fiercely protective of deep-focus writing time. I’m data-informed (I love a good keyword report), yet creativity is always at the center of what I do.
I care deeply about:
- Clarity over fluff
- Tone consistency
- Honest storytelling
- Making small businesses look as professional as they truly are
I also love mentoring junior writers and helping them find their own voice.
What I’m Building
My goal is to help position ATRACTE as the most trusted local resource in the city. I’m currently developing content initiatives that highlight immigrant-owned and women-led businesses — stories that deserve more visibility.
Long term? I see myself stepping into a Director of Content role, building a team that believes local stories matter.
Outside of Work
- Exploring new coffee shops
- Hosting small dinner parties
- Listening to true crime podcasts
- Volunteering with local literacy programs
If you’re a local business owner, writer, or fellow storytelling enthusiast — welcome. This blog is where I share what I’m learning about brand voice, local SEO, and the art of making small stories feel big.
